Ah yes, paying a few bucks for 1" lifts is a delusional cope, not paying tens of thousands on an extremely obscure and dangerous procedure that will eventually leave you a half-cripple once you get older.

I've worn small lifts in different kinds of shoes(sneakers/boots) that give me just about 2" of combined height and it's a nice small bonus. They are neither uncomfortable nor unstable.
