TL;DR (summary of post): Men who are in relationships are better looking than the ones who are hooking up, but they are less "manly". Dating Apps act in way that artificially raises the looks threshold for online hookups, but they are a minority and don't change the general fact that Dimorphism is more important for hookups and can carry you irl if you are a Tall mid-high MTN+.
I started thinking about this after watching that stream/debate between WheatWaffles and YBCTooCold, where Wheat was mostly rambling forever about phenotypes and geomaxxing, but eventually at one point he said that relationships are more looksmatched and that men can actually sleep with a woman outside his looks level if it's just a hookup.
It got stuck in my mind because it seemed so contradictory to the Blackpill, which always talks about Alpha Fucks/Beta Buxx, and makes millions of threads about dating app data which shows only 5% of men are desired by women. Not to mention I've seen threads which expose how the "All models date down" stuff is cope because besides them being mostly with Tall Rich HTNs (BP never denied LMS), they showed how they usually got ran through by male models/actors before they decided to settle down, which just again confirmed AF/BB. And we all know as women get older some of them lower their standards and call it "maturing" or whatever BS when they are just settling, which makes it seem like the guys women choose to STR is their "true revealed preference" or give them "genuine burning desire".
But I've recently come to think what Wheat said is probably true, and not just because muh "just get her drunk" strategy. First of all, the model stuff is gender reversed apex fallacy, it can't be used as proof of how the majority of women behave. Secondly, when I look back on all the threads/research/videos about hookups, the one thing that is really most important is not actually looks, it's dimorphism. The most important traits for STR are: Strength, Shoulder to Waist ratio, Height. This is undeniable to anyone who knows this field.
Strength is literally the #1 predictor for mating success, but if we followed BP logic it should be facial attractiveness, or even just other facial proxies for attractiveness like Jaw Width or Eye Spacing Ratio or FWHR. Meanwhile everyone on here who isn't retarded knows that facial attractiveness is the most important factor for getting into a LTR. And that being more facially attractive boosts a woman's relationship satisfaction and gives you a sort of honeymoon phase of approximately 7 years, just off looks alone.
So how do we reconcile this with the dating app point, given that we know that all these "dating apps" are a supermajority of the time used for hookups and don't actually lead to long lasting relationships for shit? Simple, most hookups occur outside the use of dating apps and all dating apps serve to do is raise the threshold for looks which are usually lower for STRs. So the ones who slay on the apps for STR are still the men who are the most dimorphic, but on top of that instead of being able to get away with just being HTN irl, they might have to more often be High HTN/Low Chadlite.
Now I do want to make something clear, I'm not some coper who is saying that Sub5s can employ this shit and fuck a Stacy, you will obviously not get hookups as a Sub5 just like you will not get a GF at 5'4". The point is just that the looks threshold is higher for LTR, while stuff like height and physique will be a higher threshold for STR.
I haven't even gotten into the whole EvoPysch about women wanting to LTR men who are more facially attractive because it's an evolutionary cue for the traits she wants her children to have, it should be obvious to anyone who isn't brain rotted by degeneracy that the preferable choice is to leave a genetic legacy and be a LTR.
