I think it depends.

i tan and it gives me more appeal I'd say, but it might take away from dark / light contrast from this pheno

I meant the skin / hair contrast. Personally I'll keep tanning- most white guys who can tan should do it. Getting a deep tan from a few days in a tropical beach every 2 or 3 months can keep you tan all year long without that much sun exposure
