History: Romans + a whole bunch of stuff
Economy: "It is the third-largest national economy in the European Union, the 8th-largest economy in the world"

For me, probably America. I believe that countries innovate and create best, the closer they are to a laissez-faire economic structure.
The social aspect isn't the greatest, there's a great divide in that nation.
