The thing about a long philtrum (1:1.99 Philtrum to chin ratio or worse) is that, you tend to have a sharp gonial angle and good mandibular plane angle. It’s a truecel trait if you have SFS along with it. But in most cases, you can fix it with DJS, or just Lefort I with impaction if you’re not recessed.

A downgrown jaw is much harder to address because the weaker gonial and mandibular angle involves the whole jaw.

That bad of a philtrum is worse in my opinion. Obviusly easier to fix tho

Downgrown can look good or even ideal with enough forward growth/good rotation

Harder to fix tho

Long philtrum and short chin is absolutely brutal, automatic descension to ltn/subhuman and can never look good

Can be fixed with less invasive surgeries sometimes tho

my goatee is what saved me from roping as a philtrumcel :trepidation:

Supposing you aren't downgrown a bad philtrum isn't that bad as you can grow a mustache and hide it. On the other hand, downgrown cells usually also have bad philtrums so....Your premaxillar development affects your philtrum size and your premaxillar development is affected by your maxilla as well.

My lower third is 38% of my total face. I likely just need LeFort I with impaction. The maxillofacial surgeon I consulted with said I don’t likely need braces since they’re just cutting 4-5mm of lower maxilla to lift the upper teeth and fix the gummy smile.

Can be a great ascension. Fix weak FWHR, long midface, makes the chin look stronger. My condition was listed as maxillary hyperplasia (coping term: Over-developed maxilla) so it can likely be covered by insurance.

Bump to mention Adam Driver’s side profile. He’s a turbo-downgrowncel. His Gonial angle and jaw growth is so bad that more chin projection won’t help much.
