You can still pivot to product management if you'd like. Many Devs do that. Either through an MBA or by switching roles internally once they've gained enough product exposure
i sure could, but i dont work for a corporation. i work independently for a bunch of companies as a contractor basically. its super chill, theyre all smaller companies/startups that just need some shit done here-and-there. i mostly do backend work for trading firms, optimizing their backend calculations, db operations and other stuff.

I used to do freelancing back in my 2nd year too started off with small gigs like building scripts, optimizing databases, fixing backend issues here and there at first and then moved on to more challenging and specialized stuff Free lancing is good for introducing you to everything imo but if you want to deep dive and cutting edge tech. You'll only find that mid+ companies. I only got the opportunity for end to end system optimization and large scale backend architecture in those types of companies
