Which retainers should i go for?

I will get my braces removed this month and my doc said i can choose what retainer type i want and i've been thinking about pros and cons.
Please share your experiences.

For clear retainers:
Can remove whenever i want and eat anything i want without a second thought
Can chew gum (important for me)
After 6 months, i will be wearing them only night time
If i forget to wear them im fucked
May cause bad breath if its not cleaned well
Kinda pain in the ass to wear them every fucking day nonstop

For permanent retainers:
They stay forever, no fear of dental impairment
Doesnt matter if you wear your clear retainers or not after a while (my hb doesnt wear them anymore and he is fine)
They can come off and you will have to pay a visit to your dentist
When it comes off it can also break your tooth
Cant chew gum (?) and cant eat solid food with your front teeth (my hb still eats like he has braces. he bites with his back teeth or he tears off the food b4 eating)

Can you chew gum with permanent retainers?

Are you someone who loses things easily? I was in a foreign country and lost my clear retainers, had to wait 2 weeks to get back and another week to have my dentist prepare a new set. 3 Weeks can change your bite a little depending what stage of treatment your at. So if you think you may lose them often maybe get permanent.
