“Medium sized town”, 150K is not ideal, something like 15-70K maybe.I’ve lived in remote areas like these, and it’s not a great experience. Basic groceries are miles away, and there’s nothing around but grass and rocks. The internet connection is terrible, Amazon charges extra for delivery, and it gets boring, lonely, and depressing after some time. While I loke close-knit communities, this kind living in a remote no man land's is not for me . A medium-sized town with a population of 100,000-150,000 is ideal – it meets all basic needs, keeps everything nearby, and still avoids the chaos of big cities.
