This would be from a French perspective in the later stages of the battle, autumn 1916Battle of the Somme. Literally thousands of people died in seconds
British perspective is more interesting imoThis would be from a French perspective in the later stages of the battle, autumn 1916
I saw a documentary from the British perspective on the first day on the Somme. 20,000 dead, 60,000 casualties. And the attack force was only 120,000. 50% casualty rate, most in the first couple hours, minutes evenBritish perspective is more interesting imo
Whypost it on reddit or something
no ones reading it on org
WW1 was the most useless waste of human life because of trench warfare. Thousands of people dieing and staying out for months just for a few meters of mud.I saw a documentary from the British perspective on the first day on the Somme. 20,000 dead, 60,000 casualties. I think it was one of the most psychologically brutal wars in human history.WW1 was the most useless waste of human life because of trench warfare. Thousands of people dieing and staying out for months just so the frontline can move by a few feet
About whatshould i make a history thread to? maybe something germanic wise
wdym?About what
Ww2 had more causalitied but the death was quick and wasn't so traumatizing as like WW1. The term shell shocked was invented in ww1I think it was one of the most psychologically brutal wars in human history.
Imagine sitting in a trench for weeks and then being shot within minutes or even seconds of exiting it.
Not to mention that if you did manage to make it to the other side, you’d have to engage in hand to hand combat with the enemy.
Or imagine being a German soldier on the Somme in 1916 and seeing a fucking tank rolling toward you… actually terrifying.
What will the thread be abt bruwdym?
i said, maybe just something germanic history-wise could be anything reallyWhat will the thread be abt bru
Ur right. I believe the first case of shell shock came from a British soldier in late 1914/early 1915.Ww2 had more causalitied but the death was quick and wasn't so traumatizing as like WW1. The term shell shocked was invented in ww1
