Who actually reads research papers?

I have read a lot of them, I think they are very overvalued. Most of them you are not able to read unless you have a journal membership or some other paid access, which shows that they are more a money making scheme than any attempt at genuine learning about the world. They include many "meta analyses" which are just collections of studies and surveys with the authors stupid opinion. Another common theme is strange experiments where they mutilate mice and rats to see if some experimental drug is effective.

i read about anything im going to put in my body, rather than trusting anothers personal opinion.

No I don't pay for them, but there are a lot of places where you can access the articles for free like jstor or the sites that get you past the paywall, I almost always use those. Google scholar also used to be really good but I find that now the content you can find is heavily censored and hard to access. There are so many different journals that even if I payed for access to all of them I don't know how I could possibly navigate and read stuff on them, I would need to constantly log in to 100 different ones. I feel like half the papers written are never even read once after they are published because of this
