I think sports will disappear in the near future, people won't have the patience anymore to sit for several hours and watch two teams or athletes against each other, it will simply be too boring, even now at football, basketball, etc. matches more and more people are mostly on their phones and just occasionally watch the game - watching tiktok, youtube clips, checking messages, reading news, posting on social media, playing mobile games, etc. provides a better and more intense dopamine rush, it also lowers the attention span and makes watching a long sport event a pretty dull and monotonous experience...
There are lots of entertainment alternatives now to sports - you have so many movies, tv shows, video games, etc. - it's a ton of content, and of course there's also social media, news and other stuff always at your fingertips on your phone, it makes going out to see a sport event a pretty underwhelming experience, sports might survive if they would change, become faster paced, more varied and find a way to include their audience in them.
