I remember seeing a small clip of him like 3 years ago in a gaming discord server. Aside from that I have just heard of him now thanks to @got.daim . Can any iq moggers tell me who he is? @Gargantuan @BigJimsWornOutTires @Mainlander @Prøphet

Quentin Scobie is a contemporary British online writer and literary internet personality best known for his highly idiosyncratic Substack (“The Book Club Official Substack”) and X / Twitter account ( @quentinscobie )

He's an 'orbiter' of the BAPsphere (figures like 0hpL, raweggnationalist, BAP, solbrah, etc.)

Some background regarding him:
He is from Horsforth (a town near Leeds in West Yorkshire) and studied at the University of Edinburgh, with additional time at Université Toulouse, Jean Jaurès and the Universitat de BarcelonaIn, his own writing he has referred to turning 31 (around late 2025 / early 2026 depending on the post), positioning himself as a millennial-ish or early-Gen-Z-adjacent figure navigating adult life, relationships, gyms, cafés, and the general absurdity of contemporary existence, he has lived or spent significant time in Edinburgh and has referenced London and other places in passing

(Note: there is a historical American filmmaker named Quentin Scobel -- different spelling -- who documented early AIDS-related events in New York in the 1980s and died of AIDS-related complications in 1996, that is a different person, just wanted to bring that up because it's a long running joke)

What he’s known for and what he actually does
Scobie writes long, digressive, often explicit pieces that mix personal sexual anecdote, cultural criticism, mock-academic analysis, melancholy reflection, and pure linguistic play, a signature series include multi-part sequences with titles like “Quentin Scobie’s Sexpeditious Life of Coital Curiosity” or “My Insane Life of Fuck and Crazy,” with individual posts such as “I am gooder at sex” and “I am Goodest at Sex” These are not straightforward erotica or confessional memoir, they're more of like a feverish, baroque monologue that treats sex as both the most mundane and the most metaphysically loaded activity available

A typical piece might open with absurd, mock-mythic childhood origin stories (“When I tiny boy I already sex… They found me perched, A Lilliputian Adonis, on a petal-pink liguaform Orchid…”), slide into detailed, often crude accounts of encounters with girlfriends or AirBnB hosts, then pivot into discussions of statistical graphs about penis size and female orgasm, Baudrillard quotations about the psychosexual, critiques of lookism and online rationalist discourse, and sudden swerves into melancholy about aging, time, and the emptiness of pure horniness without love, the prose is dense with neologisms, archaic or faux-archaic diction, deliberate grammatical play, parenthetical asides, and a kind of manic energy that can feel both exhausting and propulsive imo

He also posts shorter, more observational or aphoristic notes on Substack and X: café thoughts, gym social experiments, reflections on old people, Mexico and humor, the London elite, seasonal feelings, and random cultural observations

Some of his gen ideals / philosophies / stuff he writes on
- Sex as both overrated and central
- The psychosexual and modernity
- Language and performance
- Melancholy, time, and the body
- Cultural observation with a snide or affectionate edge

He kind of has a similar writing and aesthetic style to that of Mike Ma
