3. ask them questions about themselves
4. make comments on things currently happening, the coursework, we doing the same course so we have similar interests or how they are doing lol
5. build connections off of similar interests you can BS if you want
6. be friendly and use humor
7. look at their body language and other factors to see if they are interested in being friends or they are uncomfortable
8. be attractive

I know he's been out with friends sometimes and he has a very likeable and humorous persona. That doesn't necessarily translate to rl but it's at least indicative of social presence. There's a simple yet pleasant flow to the convos he has here and he doesn't have any problems with expressing his emotions.
