"Movie story halo", never heard that before but unironically makes sense.
What about Shia LaBeouf and Mads Mikkelsen? I think those two are some of the most under appreciated actors out there.
Their performances have moved me way way more than most of the Oscar winners.

probably malcolm mcdowell, he played so well in a clockwork orange to the point where I had to view other movies he played in rght after. He puts so much effort into fitting in the complexity that the character he's playing holds .

He is a bit too iconic which ruins it for me, I need kind of a quirk, something that stands out as unique, I can't have something that is too ideal and to some extent perfectly boring.

what roles match his insane potential

The Machinist, American Psycho, The Fighter, Out of the furnace (mid movie, but Bale's acting is just next level in this), The Big Short.

Instead of being given such exuberant roles, he's stuck with muh stoic cringe roles like the Prestige, bruce wayne, 3:10 to yuma, ford v ferrari roles (ford v ferrari was kinda a drag lets not kid ourselves).

fyi, bruce wayne is one of the best ever characters out there but christian bale's bruce is mid as hell lets be real here

Kieslowski's "A Short Film About Killing" and "Three Colors Blue"
"The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" by Jacques Demy (same director who made La Luxure from ur LB)
"Wild Strawberries" from Ingmar Bergman

Yeah, but I wouldn't just recommend jumping into a film movement like french new wave just like that. You gotta understand the context and the era the movie was made in, to understand why its "good" or "bad"
for example, just like how mona lisa is boring to our fellow zoomers but was one of the most realistic things made at the time of its creation, if that makes sense

Nah man Pitt can act. Fight Club, Jesse James, 12 Monkeys, Snatch, Burn After Reading, Tree of Life, Ad Astra and more. Pitt is hindered by his looks (when it comes to perceived acting ability) because it leads people to believe he's just a pretty face. If someone uglier gave the performances he's given they'd be seen much more prestigiously
