There lived a certain man who lurked .org long ago.
His name was Regret.
Not a regret.
Not the feeling that visits a man at 3 AM after he remembers something he should have said differently.
Regret.
A creature of the forum.
He appeared in the summer of 2026, joining on June 17.
At first, there was nothing particularly remarkable about him. Just another account in the endless procession of usernames that emerge from the depths of .org, shitpost for a while, collect reactions, disappear, and eventually become nothing more than an old username someone vaguely remembers.
But Regret did not follow the ordinary laws of .org.
He accumulated posts at an absurd rate. In one captured profile he had already reached thousands of posts and over 20,000 reputation, while another later crawl recorded him at more than 8,000 posts.
He was everywhere.
Threads about girls.
Threads about looks.
Threads about random bullshit.
Threads where nobody had summoned him, yet somehow Regret was there.
He became part of the background radiation of the forum.
Then came the strange part.
He began disappearing.
On August 23, one of the forum’s major guides recorded Regret as hardbanned, despite his account having accumulated thousands of posts.
Yet the creature would not stay dead.
People continued mentioning him.
On August 4, another user wrote that they had been at school with Regret and that he had said he would be back soon.
Soon enough, he returned again.
The legend grew.
A man could be banned.
A username could vanish.
But Regret could not be permanently removed from .org.
Even recently, threads still show him appearing, replying, reacting, tagging people and behaving as though he had never left.
And perhaps that is why people miss him.
Not because Regret was necessarily the greatest poster .org ever produced.
Not because every post was some lost piece of literature.
But because, for a brief period, Regret was simply there.
You could open almost any corner of the forum and there was a chance you would encounter him.
Then one day you opened the site.
No Regret.
Another thread.
No Regret.
Another page.
Still nothing.
And you realized that you had become accustomed to seeing the same strange creature roaming through the forum.
That is the curse of .org.
You never know when someone is living through their golden age.
You never know when the poster you scroll past every day will become an old username.
You never know when the next ban will be the final one.
So now the elders whisper:
“I miss Regret.”
And somewhere beyond the archives, beneath the thousands of dead threads and forgotten accounts, the creature waits.
Perhaps he will return.
Perhaps he already has.
Perhaps Regret was never truly gone. @76.1 @aethel
