I need bimax and I see decompensating the bite before the surgery is very common, but not done for everyone.

So who actually needs to decompensate their bite before the surgery? I had orthodontics before and have a good occlusion, and 4 premolar extractions as well (which is why I need bimax), so I was hoping I could avoid braces altogether tbh.

I don’t think you will need it, but you must consult with your surgeon

I have to decompensate before surgery. I had my premolars taken out so just retracting the lower teeth go create an over jet.

Will take like 5 to 7 months more to be prepped for surgery.

is decompensating basically to go against bimax protrusion?

No.

In short, what makes you candidate for "surgery first"?
That the orthodontist accepts it or not. Or that surgeon reassures the patient that he won't have any problem finding an orthodontist after the surgery.
