Title. Who would win in a fight to death. A male grizzly bear. 10 foot in length, 1000 lbs with insane strength and giant paws

Vs

A skilled swordman with a giant great sword say the Zweihänder. Because a short sword can't maintain distance and would useless against a bear.

you said a skilled swordsman, realistically a high iq person would know how to keep a bear away with a long and pointy sword.

eventually there'll come an opportunity for you to just do a quick jab and Inpale it.

Would that really matter against a bear that is 5x the size anyway.
Would affect how easily they can swing a giant sword and also their durability

Bear for sure
I think bear too. I there's not a lot you can physically do against something that massive in size compared to you. Best you can do is somehow dodge it and land a hit on its face or some vital organs. If you miss it's GG

bear, a man would have problems waving a sword that big and inflicting damage before the bear attacks

Bear obviously jfl

The physical disparity is insurmountable through skill alone. This wouldn't be an issue if it were a slow and cumbersome animal since the man could simply outrun it, tire it out and then deliver a fatal blow (man wins easily in this scenario, same reason why Goatis would unironically beat Eddie Hall in a fight), but bears are literally made for endurance and can outrun any man, so that doesn't apply here.

The margin of error is asymmetric. The man gets one mistake before incapacitation, whilst the bear can absorb multiple deep wounds and stay in the fight, since penetrating its thick hide to reach vital organs is no easy feat.
The weapon's reach advantage is most likely negated by the bear's own dimensions as well.
Even when landing a perfect vital strike, the bear wouldn't die instantly and could most likely still find a way to deliver lethal trauma with a bite force and paw swipes that can crush bones.

How would you poke with a sword that big? You can't keep it horizontal
Zweihänder have large length but still quite light wnd agile too. It's common mid conception than greatswords are too big

Yes, I see but how would you poke with it? It's not like you can push real force with that by keeping it horizontal

Maybe the bear will impale itself under its own weight?

Nerves of Steel and the Sharpness of the Sword will be the most crucial factors here to the point where you only
get one swipe and must make it count or else the Bear will literally end you in a matter of seconds

An anxious person wielding a sword would actually harm both himself and the Bear.

This is basically a battle of Nerves

Giant sword u have such a high chance winning then a fucking bear

I think bears are more pussu then u guys think, animals in general. Like one swing from the sword it will probably back off

If a bear charges straight at me at 25mph
As long as I’m stone cold it won’t even realize the sword I’m holding towards its chest is lethal, no?
