why am i not photogenic?

im not photogenic at all. it both looks bad & simply doesn't look like me at all. ive sent my friends some selfies a few years back n they all didn't believe it was me because of the distortion. "oh it looks like u but at the same time it doesn't" i honestly don't get how it can distort my face that much.
