If you plotted GDP against temperature you'll find a clear correlation between them. Colder countries generally have higher GDP and are richer

1000138736

In fact for every 1ยฐ C increase in temperature. The GDP per capita falls by a massive $762.

Scientists have long come up with theories to explain this phenomenon . It's well known fact that higher temperatures have significant effects on cognitive performance

1000138738

But what is interesting is how this trend only emerged post industrial revolution

1000138740

One leading theory is because of the life style people in tropics live. People from tropics hunt throughout the year, live on land that is extremely fertile, and it rains throughout the year so food is in abundance and they also live in simple mud houses because that sufficed their needs while people in colder countries has to store food and fuel because it wasn't always available and build proper well engineered houses that could with stand the cold.

Tropical climates have easier but more unpredictable environment while colder climates have a harsher but more predictable environment. Colder climates needs this kind of foresight and planning ahead of time for survival.

So cold countries survived by capital accumulation and long term planning and those are the exact skills required to thrive in a world after industrial revolution. Agriculture stopped being a big source of wealth as evrything moved to an industrial and now IT society. But before it was all agriculture and this is one of the reasons why all major civilizations and ancient kingdoms emerged from the topics and later shifted to the colder countries after the industrial revolution

Really interesting thread/topic. I was thinking recently about something similar, where the climate determines the success of a country.

necessity is the mother of all invention. in tropical countries, food and resources are abundant and available year round. in cold countries not so much so there was a need to innovate to make the most out of the land and scarce resources that were available.

I'd say it's easier to survive in cold countries than in hot countries

Humans can handle cold way better than heat plus houses and clothing makes nearly every cold place habitable

With less focus on survival it gives more time for innovation

Unrelated to the topic, but whenever i view your threads i always listen to the nas song in your signature. He's a really great rapper :feelshah:

About the topic, i never really thought about it, i'm not an economics kind of guy. I'm unmotivated to work when it's hot so there's that. :fuk:

Nothing to do in cold areas besides work. Cold dictates long term planning.

what you explained is exactly the reason why it is so.
Our ancestors never had time for leisure, the moment the weather started getting nicer and warmer, they started sowing, hunting, gathering.
In scandinavia, the summer was only a period of hard labor.
Warmer seasons were just time to prepare for the winters, in an endless cycle, until technology got so good that we didnโ€™t need to do that anymore.
This harsh cycle of life is also why people are colder in nordic countries, there was never time for leisure or pass times, only work and then survival.

im not going to do a whole logical argument (which there is absolutely) just an anecdote based off experiences.

if it's 45C but low humidity, i can run endlessly and do work, it's just a bit annoying since it's burning outside, but you mainly just have to stay hydrated

when it's cold and damp, i just want to sit around and think about stuff all day indoors.

when it's like 35C and 100% humidity outside, i dont want to fucking anything at all. all i want to do it LDAR. my brain doesnt even want to think, just lie around like a lazy dog and consume. most of the tropical countries have this problem. how the fuck are u supposed to build anything if the weather is an annoying piece of shit? that's why Singapore had to ACmaxx to even get started with productivity.

arid desert areas had plenty of sophisticated civilisation (Fertile Crescent, Egypt, Persia), then Europe inherited that model and used their cold weather advantages. tropical shitholes can't utilise either the advantage of desert societies or cold climates

there doesn't need to be 'science' behind this realisation tbh, just live in different climates and you will quickly realise how productivity shifts

Cold Winters is a just so story. Not believable to me. Although, race and IQ are certainly connected.

Put yourself in their shoes for a second.

For sure, but it did so in present day Sindh, an arid region, it's not tropical.
Sure, but the tropical parts weren't far behind and today, Southern India is richer than Northern India.

This isnโ€™t confusing

Itโ€™s because the cold nations have been plundering the South for years and still does today thatโ€™s why

Really interesting thread/topic. I was thinking recently about something similar, where the climate determines the success of a country.
Colder countries == less reseouxes == more warfare == more completion == better military == can go to hot nations and bully them and take their shit

This is how itโ€™s always been

yes, im not arguing for environmental determinism, because places like Singapore exists. I'm arguing it's easier to form a culture of productivity and efficiency in particular climates over others. a region that is tropical can later copy the systems from such civilisations.

ropical regions are the harshest to live in so that makes sense theyโ€™d develop less because they never had time to relax everythingโ€™s literally out to kick you even the fruit over there is toxic the ground is picky

Desert locations are shit as well but if coastal or having a river like Egypt and Iraq you can create Oasis and Dunes itโ€™s quite cool and thatโ€™s what the ancient MENAS did and weโ€™ll all early CIV were Desert for a reason

didnt read the essay but it's common knowledge that harsher environment -> more pressure on humans to adapt to it --> accelerated evolution -> higher iq

hence niggers = retards. not because of some inherent inferiority, but because of the banal fact that nature wasn't pressing them the same way, so they could just chill with their chimpanzee relatives and still get by

Not a general rule. compare australia to ruzzia, compare cali to finland. its not a general rule. but certain colder nations are influenced by white people such as germany or scandinavian nations so they are richer on avg

Yeh its just adaptations stuff, similar to why whites tend to be more bulkier and stronger compared to most races sans Filipino since they tend to need more strength to build structures and also hunt creatures plus bergmann rule

Hot countries are mostly filled with religious retards who don't even understand their religion and still blindly believe it. Plus white supremacy in the cold countries

There's a theory that cold (hence harsher) climate selected for more intelligent and resourceful people ๐Ÿค” but somehow north american natives were not intelligent enough to hold out against European colonialists

when it's hot you can barely move or think you just end up sleeping all day and maybe swimming

in cold countries you stay at home bc it's warm and dry and the cold wakes you up

mainly historical reasons tho
