If some sort of catastrophe would occur forcing me to seek refuge in another country and say Dubai gave me asylum, my own apartment, money for food, entertainment, furniture and even paid trips back to the home country. I would be a staunch defender of the emiratis and take their side if any of my immigrant bothers would talk shit or make problems. I would be super grateful and work hard to blend in and be productive.

This, look how hard the Irish and Italian immigrants to the US tried to assimilate to a society that discriminated against and loathed their very presence. Now that American society is openly anti-white and gives everything to minorities including affirmative action, grants, white guilt propaganda, and so on, minorities hate America. Realized this relatively recently to be honest. If they really wanted to improve their lives they could do it in their home country instead of fleeing to some first world "paradise." That's too much effort for them though. Only exception is those from War torn countries or those who are staying for a couple of years or so for work or university to then go back.

It was mostly down to religion rather than race. Arabs, South Asians, East Asians and Blacks will always be seen as foreign regardless of their religion or culture. So why even bother putting in the effort to "assimilate" when it won't work?

It's the same reason why a homeless person would be a lot more respectful if taken in by a family than by a government shelter.

When help becomes institutionalized, people get accomodated and start thinking they are owed help.

When you're receiving help from someone else's limited resources who is choosing to house you out of good will, you automatically become very humble and respectful to the person who took you in, mindful of all you do so that they don't kick you out. You won't eat more than you have to, you'll help around the house when you can, you'll show that you're looking for a job to get out of that situation.... because if they see you lying on the sofa eating their chips and watching tv all day... they'll stop feeling sorry for you.

But when it's a "human rights" issue, then they are owed that help. It's their "right". They don't need to make sure they look like hardworking victims anymore... They'll still get free stuff regardless of how entitled, disrespectful and lazy they act...
