Why are Nasolabial folds so confusing

They’re probably THE most confusing thing in all of human anatomy

I used to think they were caused by a recessed or flat midface until I met my coworker, her maxilla and zygos are very developed but she still has pretty deep folds

Shes very thin too

Facelift or death if you have NL folds

its about collegen and fat distribution too

all old people have folds but are they all recessed
