Now that looksmaxxing and in due course the blackpill has leaked into normie internet culture the general consensus they hold is that lookmaxxing or even lookism for the matter isn't real, cringe and all looksmaxxers/incels just have bad personalities.

In almost every single tiktok comment section you'll have people sarcastically mocking lookism and/or just telling the op to "go outside" or "touch grass".

Are they really this oblivious to the importance of looks? They'll have a full face of makeup on or be a young, nw0, lean, softmaxxed htn and then make a post about how looks aren't important and personality is the only thing that could possibly be holding you back from dating success. Can they at least not see the cognitive dissonance between those actions?

In my opinion I believe its due to 2 reasons.

One, insecurity. they are hesitant to admit that they are not that good looking after all, and they are also insecure about having competition "looksmaxxing". They wanna play it off cool and say "its all about the personality" but deep down they want to look better.

Two, the notions associated with "looksmaxxing", basically what the others have said, they think its some incel thing to do it and that they are better. they have a negative notion associated with it basically.
