Why are parents biased towards females, even if they only have a son?

I was talking to a certain user here on discord, and he told me that he sorta tried to blackpill his parents about looks, basically telling them that he doesn't have the looks necessary to attract females in today's sexual marketplace. His parents replied "oh no, its not like that. girls don't care about looks, its your personality" (something along those lines)

However, me and him discussed, that if a girl went to her parents and complained about her looks, the parents would likel agree that the girl wasn't getting dating results because of her looks. the parents would take their daughters side against men

why are (99% of) parents like this? siding with females?

I think it might be because they might believe in order for their daughter to get with a "good" man i.e. one with good integrity etc. that their daughter will need to be good looking enough to attract such a man, whereas for whatever reason when it comes to their sons, they're (and much of society) of the belief that looks are only part (in their eyes a small part) of the equation.
