Why are parents so concerned about grades but not about your social life?

Many boomer and Gen X parents would rather their kid be a friendless isolate but a 4.0 student rather than socially popular but a poor student. I think this is a huge mistake. I would rather have a son that's a shitty student with a 1.0 GPA but he's very respected and popular than a son that's a 4.0 student with zero friends and none of his peers respect him. The real world doesn't give a shit about your GPA but you will always be well served by being popular and having friends and associates.

My parents did the same. After middle school, I would be more concerned with my son having a girlfriend than about his GPA. Being popular, having a GF and some athletic ability is WAYYYYYYY more important than getting an A in some algebra class.

In the book, it stated that men who dated and partied in high school were better off financially and in the job market 10 years later than those men who didn't date or party in high school.

You're partially right. Good looks and all the halos that come with it (accent, confidence) lands people a job.
However, there are just some professions where you need to hire a nerd - even if he is an autist.

They just the lack the confidence to talk to you about it and fear they will offend you. The problem is most parents just have children without thinking about things properly or the guy is just betabuxxing so the woman isn't willing to help him raise their son properly (breast-feeding, no drinking during pregnancy, making sure he isn't a cuck etc.). They lack the self-awareness or humility to accept that they fucked up so they just project it onto you with something that can easily be fixed (grades).

Not just about friends for the sake of it, but a good peer group is necessary for proper psychological and emotional development. Getting a 4.0 GPA is neutral as far as proper psychological and emotional development is concerned. In the incel community, I know lots of emphasis is placed on height and looks, but if we're being honest, lots of incels have stunted psychological and emotional development when compared to the general population. Being accepted by your peers during your formative years is very necessary. Being an honor roll student is not necessary for proper psychological development.

Life is all about social status. Doing good in school, on it's own, is worthless. It's better to be good at sports TBH.
