You do realize that the Persians in the west are the ones who escaped Iran after the revolution? It’s pretty much expected they’d be anything BUT Islamic. My friend who’s a slayer is also Persian. He does all the things you say. He wants to help me lose my v card btw.

I think the Iranian desire to associate with Europeans is both due to a secularist counter reaction to Islam and Arabic influence, as well as the ancient Indo-European heritage they share with whites. Of all Near Eastern countries, save for Turkey, it makes the most sense for them to want to ingratiate themselves with the West. At the end of the day, though, Persians have always been Near Easterners, not Europeans. The Aryans that came to India were probably from the area of modern-day (northern?) Iran.

Well feeling a connection with Arabs does make sense, although if you're going to reject that part of your heritage I guess it makes sense to take your anger out on the Arab world. No historical reason for Iranians to care about blacks or Asians, though, unless we're talking about mixed race Central Asians.

They are a liberal society, not a liberal regime. This wasn't a state that was founded in a democratic way. They have an election with pre-approved list of candidates by supreme leader - like usual the reformists tend to gain power and/or they're banned from participating again (Rouhani, Mousavi, Mohamed Khatani).

Ahmedinejad once a ultra conservative has now turned liberal but banned from being president again.
