Why would a developer who releases free source code not also be willing to compile the executable? Is it to retain a sense of superiority over normies? If you have already spent many hours making this or that program, why is it so difficult for the creator to finish it by unifying it into a single file ready for use? I really can't think of a good explanation other than petty psychology. It's like going to a restaurant, and you order a specific dish, and they give you the ingredients of that dish for you to take home and cook yourself(without instructions), rather than the prepared meal.

Why the fuck would anybody choose to go to that restaurant over the other ones? If I want pizza, I don't buy lunchables, I buy pizza.

You can't just say, "oh it's free, get over it", because there's no reason to release free software in the first place if not to provide a convenient service to others(or to spread malware).

Regardless I do agree tho. A lot of Devs have terrible folder hygiene. They just dump evrything and expect the user to figure evrything out themselves

Yes I agree with that. but a lot of people don't really view GitHub as application distribution platform it's main purpose was collaboration, version controlling etc.
