It's fucking depressing playing games meant for multiplayer games alone (e.g. First person shooters)

I've seen IOS games with more replayability and less consumerism nowadays.

It’s also a lot easier for the developers to add a few maps (if we’re talking about fps games) and make a multiplayer game than making a whole new campaign/story mode singleplayer game.
 
multiplayer = infinite replayability in theory whereas singleplayer = done after 10-40 hours

if the game has infinite replayability they can justify having microtransactions (look up Games as a Service for this business practice)
 
Games cost alot to develop nowadays and online is constant stream of income
