Why aren’t main characters in movies ever cowardly?

There’s no character in any movie who ever just backs down all the time and stays inside his room where’s he safe and doesn’t go out of his way to do shit for anyone but himself but at the same time doesn’t have interesting things happen to him

Yea people expect movie characters to be superhuman. Ya kno how people get pissed when movie characters don’t do the optimal actions? “Bro what a shit plot bro; the character should’ve done XYZ” but people IRL do irrational things all the time. People don’t want realism in movies. No one ever sneezes and coughs in movies. No one says “um” and “uh” and “like” frequently the way some people IRL do. People hate realistic movies.

To be a likable movie character, you have to have high IQ, high EQ, be a great speaker, be witty, be charismatic, be socially smooth, be physically attractive, have no allergies, not be weird, have a great deal of courage, not make mistakes, not do stupid things, always be motivated, be able to be logical in stressful crisis situations, etc.

The average dude is shitty and unlikeable as a movie character.

If I was in a movie I’d literally just not say anything and when I did I’d say things like “yup” or “man, that’s crazy” and basically be a quiet loser with no charisma or depth, just a boring af character
