Thinner faces (provided there is enough width of the bones to not look weak) looks better.
In fact the prototypical attractive face is much thinner then the less attractive face- this is AI generated

Asians tend to have very wide protruding cheekbones and flat maxillas. these two are correlated. They also tend to have retruded features in general than white people. This lack of forward projection is the real reason why their faces have more fat and why they lack hollow cheeks- bc there isn’t enough bone to stretch the skin

I do believe the typical asian diet of high carbs (rice noodles) also contributes to extra bloat but even if they ditched all carbs worked out and did all the caloric deficit they could, they still would find it hard to get hollow cheeks

White people tend to have the opposite- not as protrusively wide cheekbones, more projected maxillas noses and chins so there is much more bone to stretch the skin taut, hence a leaner thinner look more closely resembling the attractive left look

The main point i want to share is that the excessive wideness of the face is exacerbated by lack of volume (fat or bone) in terms of forward growth. It’s not only an optical illusion as described below but it’s directly correlated. The bone that should have grown forwards instead translates to extra width (cheekbones)- that’s my theory at least. Now, one might think that having projecting zygos is good right?
Somewhat, but not too wide. There is a front 45 degree and side cheekbones. You don’t want all the projection to go only into side cheekbones.

For patients who progressively appear wider on selfies due to ever flattening of their frontal profile, this optical issue is invariably due to combination of losing their soft tissue and fat volume as well as genetically being endowed with flatter maxillary bone (inner mid face) often associated with prominent cheek bone (outer mid face), as often seen in patients of Asian descent . For most patients who are visual and understand how depth, or lack there of, can play an optical trick in terms of making us look flatter and wider on selfies and on zooming, it is a concept easily grasped. But for many of us who are not visual, it is initially a difficult concept to grab. A classic patient would be an Asian female with overall small sized face. They have always coveted their small sized face. However somewhere between 25 and 35 years of age, as a genetical imprint, they begin to lose facial volume resulting in “reverse apple cheek” appearance making their cheek bone harsher and/or the inherent flat bony profile of their mid face, flatter. As a result, optically they begin to look wider on selfies and equate their changes with facial laxity when in reality it is loss of volume and depth to their facial profile. Misguided, they usually come in looking to get lifting procedure using energy based devices like Thermage or Ultherapy. In reality what they need is restoration of the lost soft tissue volume to return the depth and dimension to their facial profile and contour. This is a very important concept that many patients would benefit from knowing and understanding. Alas, many continue with their misguided journey and undergo Thermage or Ultherapy with no real gain. Worse yet, if inappropriately performed, can result in making them appear even flatter from further loss of volume on their face. The ideal way to make them more slender is using “Structural Fat Grafting” technique to restore their 3-Dimensional contour and profile back to younger days. This can only be achieved through a combination of my careful artistic interpretation of the individual face as much as sound lipo-transfer technique. If properly done, 3-D Structural Fat grafting can be near magical and optically create a more slender face even immediately after transferring 30cc to 40cc of harvested fat into the fac

Completely right. I sadly have wide cheekbones, which make my face look wide and my cheeks look fat/bloated, even though I'm lean and work our regularly.

That's why I'm strongly considering getting zygoma reduction next year.

When asians get lean and have good bone structure, they get the shallow canine fossa type of 'hollows', not exactly sure what it caused by and if it's actually the canine fossa, haven't though too much about it.

Do you have the link to the study from where you got the images of the two faces? I remember many years ago this was posted in earlier lookmaxxing sites.
