@KING REIDYZ thread but it's because afro hair is a failo and hard to manage which is why black men have buzzcuts or short hair or dreads. Even in the OP only the 4th one is legit her hair (maybe) the rest are extensions.

Why its a failo,? You can have a lot of hairsyle with it
Doesn't look aesthetic plus you can only have a limited amount of hairstyles also it's high maintenanc. Most blacks usually keep their hair short or get dreads or a perm women have to spend a lot of time managing their hair and are covering it 50% of the time to maintain it in that state.

I like this aesthetic too but to answer your question.
First reason is that it's harder to maintain and more fragile. If you have natural 4 type hair you need to have a routine that includes deep conditioning, moisturizing, sealing and detangling. @enchanted_elixir explains it well in his thread. If you have a wig you probably just need to get short braids and put your wig on top of it. The former isn't impossible or herculean, but it's obviously higher maintenance than the latter.

Also don't be fooled. "Natural hair" can be frauded too. Some of your examples are probably frauding(though I actually don't mind). Just because she isn't wearing an Indian woman's silky sacrifice to Krishna doesn't mean it's necessarily natural.

Some common problems that frustrate women with natural hair are tangling, breakage, and shrinkage. Most of this can be dealt with through proper care, but shrinkage is inevitable and can only be mitigated.
Many women like to have their hair stretched out rather than condensed, but natural 4c hair will naturally shrink down with time especially in humid environments :

Most women who decide to go natural will have to "embrace" the shrinkage; the woman above is an example. They will also put them in protective hairstyles to keep it stretched out. But women who refuse to "embrace" the shrinkage will have a very hard time going natural and trying to cope with it will just frustrate them and waste them a lot of time.

Second reason is soft power. Even assuming that you are willing keep your hair natural, whether you want it or not 4 type hair is not seen favorably in most of the West, both by non-blacks and many black Westerners. Sometimes it can honestly be the difference between getting hired or dismissed. Between your boss finding you "ghetto" or "professional". I have anecdotes from female relatives about this. Over time it creates a trend towards fake straight hair.

Or their hair seems to not grow as fast because of its texture and brittleness so they have to either change it or rely on wigs and extensions to compete with other women.

Because you can't have high appeal modern tiktok hairstyles, you can't grow out a fringe or cover a bad hairline. It's high maintenance and high effort and overall doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of curly, wavy or even straight hair. If it wasn't a failo majority of women would have afros but irl they wear wigs or have braids or some other kind of extensions that don't look like typical afro hair. Most black men have short hair as well or dreads

There was this mixed black girl back in high school, she was one of the few black women I found myself strongly attracted to. Her voice, her face, her figure, her personality, everything about her screamed femininity and class, the opposite of the average ghetto black bitch you’d expect.

She looked really good with her natural hair grown out. The moment she straightened it for a formal ball, she looked significantly worse and more basic, trying to fit into something that she isn’t.

lol that's more about novelty than anything else like those chinese people taking pics with random blacks cause they basically never see them. It's rare to find someone anywhere with an afro that large.

The thread is about growing out natural hair but most of the posts have some kind of unnatural exension or some shit firstly. Secondly kinky afro hair is extremely high maintenance and time consuming which is why most black women are wearing wigs, brais or some kind of extension or have dreads or something maybe even a perm.

Legit I started growing out my hair and had a longer afro, I watched some of those tutorials and holy shit it's so fucking time consuming and high effort and basically has to be done regularly to have decent hair, also like half the time(like going to sleep) the hair is in a 'protective' style which looks like shit. It's not convenient at all.

If it was so hard to maintain why was it common in the 70s? Afro was standard hair style for all the black kids in my high school (about 4% black).

Another knowledgable black user, welcome

Secondly: Ideal hair type for black/mixed people?

How can one ascend into type 3 hair (naturally) without ruining their hair

@enchanted_elixir moisture and curl cream maxxing from ur thread isnt working, yes my hair looks better and is healthier but it's not giving me those big thick juicy high in diameter type 3 curls

I was told that the Green Eco-Styler cream is a must when curling and styling your hair.
