Why chin wing is pointless

When i first researched about getting maxfac surgery to correct jaw recession, i often kept coming back to chin wing thinking it was the perfect surgery that i needed, due to my teeth already being straight. This was BEFORE i had a consultation with a good maxfac surgeon who told me the best option is ALWAYS BSSO. Even if your teeth are straight. This can be corrected by around 8-12 months of orthodontics to decompensate first (Create overbite) and then perform BSSO.

Yes if ur teeth are already aligned, decompensation is alot more effort but trust me its the right way to go about it

A BSSO will provide greater oral volume, more widening, safer, and more natural looking.

I started decompensation with ortho this week and will go to Ramieri that I already seen on visio back in October 2024

isn't Chin wing just a more invasive cut of genio ? a guy that had mini chin wing with Ramieri in 2019 had it done along regular BSSO

i think mini chin wing allows BSSO while regular chin wing don't

However with BSSO you can do Ramus widening and I don't think you can done it with mini chin wing

If he moved it vertically it’s just a tiny bit. Not enough if you have a high ramus or vertically small mandibule

Decomp and bsso is just a way to lengthen the face horizontally.

How could it be otherwise ?

You think your surgeon is going to vertically lengthen your lower jaw without a lefort downgraft cut ? Can’t be happening

Why ? Because both jaws have to be connected by the teeth. So if one jaw moves down or up the other one has to follow (if you have a good bite)

No he just tell me straight without X-rays that visually I was an overbite patient and that I needed to find an ortho in France and start decompensation with him

French ortho will contact Ramieri in 6 month after start , it's the same process as for bluepilled surgeons so it doesn't make a difference wether you chose Ramieri or not.

Actually they also all refused to do it unless for teeth implants

You need a referral with a french maxillo surgeon that also do jaw implants like the one in Marseille I don't remember his name

Then tell them to give DICOMs files to you

Personally I will do then once I meet Ramieri in Rome in his clinic

I'm in a similar position as you. Teeth straight. But my lower jaw / chin is slightly recessed. And I lack oral volume.

I'm starting the processus of contacting surgeon etc will get my scan this month
