Serious why did alain delon's eyes look closer set when he was older?

i was looking at pictures of alain delon and i saw this image of him when he was older

and i noticed his eyes look pretty close set here, is it because his face is wider?

obviously his eyes didn't become closer as he grew older so my only guess is that his face just got wider as he grew older, is that what happened and the reason for the close set appearance or is there another reason?

no idea, but the same happened with my grandfather (had wide set eyes at 30 and at the end of his life they were close set)

yea the same thing happened to my dad too, his eyes weren't wide set but not close either but now they're close set, I think it really is the skull looking wider instead of the ipd actually changing, I hope it doesn't happen to me tho cuz my ipd is perfect right now.
