Why did I suck it up when a door crushed my fingers when I was 8

When I was 8 my cousin unknowingly closed a door and didn’t see that I had my fingers in the hinges area while I was rolling a toy car along there

Wrecked my fingers it was real nasty but I held in the urge to cry and felt embarrassed to tell anyone

That happened to me 3 different times by my sister had to wear a small cast on my finger for like a month each time
