Taste is pretty hard-wired in the brain, so yeah, but people with autism can be more selective about food. Moderate to low functioning autists tend to be fatter as well because they just eat sugar. When I was a kid I had to have a different utensil for each part of my food and it couldn't mix. I grew out of almost all of the sensory-processing symptoms by the time I got to my late teens though
