Why didnt my suicide plan work?

I tied a tie to one of my bed posts and then i put my head in through the loop on the other end. I took 300mg of seroquel and 8mg of Ativan which I took at the same time.
My plant was to have the rope somewhat snug around my neck and let it slowly tighten as I fall asleep from the heavy medications. But it didn't work. I was up a full hafl hour with my head snugly in my tie suspended from the bed, but unconsciousness never cam.
Now I have an absolutely enormous adams apple. Which kept getting in the way of the rope around my neck. I put the rope around my neck and i pulled it tight so could feel the pressure in my face and in my skull. My face turned so purple and even my teeth and nose hurt. But I didn't fall unconscious.

How close do you think i was to unconsciousness and What did I do wrong???
