Why do american sports favor the genetically gifted?

Its practically impossible to see a regular person in the nba or nfl. The avg height in the nba i 6'5 and the avg weight of the nfl is like 250lbs. At least in soccer you can see genetic losers like Messi make it. That doesn't happen in American sports
