Like, plumbers and electricians pulling 6 figs but still treated like they're subhuman next to some desk drone in a suit. Why is that? I'm an ITcel and pull 6 figures but for some reason people think it's a high status job when I literally get paid to sit in a place and stare at a screen and do like 2 hours of actual work and LDAR the rest of the time. While plumbers, electricians, construction workers who actually do stuff lifting heavy objects, fixing stuff get treated like some second class citizens. Like yes I make the same amount when I'm much younger and yes I have to use my brain instead of muscle but still why such a bad rep?

At my job its just me and my headphones and peace and quiet, maybe i'll speak to a person at the start of the day clocking in and at the end. Simple and ez.

Fuck ldaring too and living how IT students live.

Lmao nigga no. I literally rot on the forum at work. Just ask chatgpt what a devops engineer does. I literally sit at a desk and stare at screen and intervene if something breaks down that's it. Literally ask anyone who works in IT most people just for like 2-3 hours and LDAR the rest of the day. Getting into tech is the hard part but once you are in. It's not hard at all.

People are sheep ig. A lot of people would rather work some desk job, even if plumbers or electricians earn more. Such jobs are seen as low class jobs to a lot of people.

Plumbing is a pretty easy job tbh, if you have a strong stomach. Most of the time it's just a simple blockage in the P-trap, which even a toddler could fix in 5-10 minutes and then they can charge $100-$200.

Very rarely are plumbing jobs more complicated than that. But even so, I don't have the stomach for that shit so could never do it

dude thats soul crushing, u gotta do it in secret too. I know my brother has an IT job, that shit is ass though and u need to study years for it. I cant be fucked to do that, i did IT for a bit and it was so fucking shit. Even if it was that, im not clocking into an office to do nothing stressed out asf spinning on my chair after i done work.

I genually need something to do, like a repetitive task and i get fried off benzos , listen to music and i love it.

In the 2-3 hours you do work it is intellectually stimulating.A lot of it is problem solving on the spot under pressure. It's never repetitive tho and sometimes can get quite frustrating.

The big pays off plumbing usually comes from fixing and doing the plumbing of entire home during construction tho

It was never about the job.

Also, blue collar is going to be oversaturated very soon.

issue is i dont like IT, problem solving or looking at numbers or stupid shit like that or looking at spreadsheets, honestly fuck that. If ur a special type of person who likes it, good on u, ur prob gonna make good money, but i dont like that work much at all and im not about to waste like years of my life studying for that shit, which will prob get replaced faster than trucking ever will

pay isnt good though in areas of high migrants in the US. As for europe yeah these immigrants are often as lazy if not lazier than the white trash we have here.

Huh? in California plumbers, electricians, truckers, construction all make comfortably 6 figures incomes. If they have their own shop or buisness they are literally millionaires

In India it's money issue bro. Plumbers and electricians get peanuts because of labour being so cheap but that is not the case abroad

I'm too much of a retarded ADHD/mentalcel for most white collar jobs. So worst case scenario I might have to go for a blue collar job too.

But it really looks shitty imo. IDC if the pay is good, I don't wanna get my hands dirty and do manual labor for 8 hrs :fuk:

It’s seen as "servitude" and doing the dirty work that other’s don’t want to do. Plumbers still have the same reputation as those guys who emptied the latrines in the past, people dealing with dung and dirt

Nigga you decide what kind of agenda you have. Either I make 10 rupees and you mock me for being poor or I'm some kind of richcel and you mock me for being wealthy doing both won't work. Fix on one thing

Yes. I have dealt with sleep issues at work when I had to on call at night. Even made a thread about it

I never it's not a stressful job. It is stressful and taxing. I'm just saying it doesn't involve too much work. Its mainly well paid because of mission critical it is not because it is hard to do

@Debetro why r u getting mad at @Jason Voorhees he just had better spawn point than rest of the world which is nothing wrong if u can use it to get even further in life ; from what i have observed is the fact that u cant get rich by hating rich ppl like this ; so stop hating rich ppl and work ur way onto one, instead of LDARing on .org

I think it really depends on the setup they have. In a lot of places nowadays, most of the DevOps work is automated, so honestly I mostly just sit at a screen and jump in when something breaks. How hands-on do you expect to be once you're past training-more automation or still lots of manual optimization? What kind of a setup do they use at your place of work?
