I always see Poles, Russians, Belarusians, etc talking about how they are reserved, never talking/smiling at strangers, minding their own business to insane levels and going to extreme lengths to defend it when westerners question why they act weird.
As someone who is socially anxious, I would never defend it. Extroverted people have insane opportunities in life. They can make more friends/connections, bargain better, and overall accomplish more in life. Humans are a social species. Eastern Europeans get extremely defensive when you bring this up. It seems like they have abused dog syndrome from the USSR.
They were paranoid about strangers turning them in. Its 2023 now and they have the same mentality. They try to say Anglo countries are fake with their conversations and smiles. If only Eastern Europeans aimed that view at their politicians instead of westerners, then they would be on par with the west.
