I mean it gives us identity.

Ofc our countries are shit, but there's some parts of our cultures/countries that we wanna keep because it makes us who we are today.

Since they feel disconnected from their contemporary host country for obvious reasons. For them, pride in their original country is a way for them to cope with not belonging and being foreign.
