Why do girls constantly stare and point, but won't approach?

Last Wednesday went out for new years. As soon as I enter a bar/club, I get constantly stared at and even obviously pointed at by other women even sometimes men. I always look away, acting as if I didn't even noticed, but sometimes I clearly do. I don't often get approached by women unless I know them from somewhere or when they approach me in a group. When I get stared at or pointed at, it sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable and unsure cuz I don't know what there saying about me to their friends or others around them. I'm sure it's something positive, but still. Anyone else can relate?

this honestly just depends if you look good or not, if you do they are just too shy to approach you but if you are ugly the most obvious answer is that they are making fun of you

thx for the response, I honestly think they are too shy. If I may say soo i'm a above average looking teenager with a well developed physique. Especially the fact that I wore a well fitting formal t shirt that really enhances my upper body build. Most often obviously receive complements from guys, but sometimes also women. I understand that certain girls may be too shy or see me as some sort of threat, but if I were them I would always try shoot my shot.
