Why do girls not understand humour

I have been messaging a lot of people and I noticed one thing. All the girls are unfunny or don’t understand humour. I made a joke that I read in a book about jokes and the girl screenshotted and I asked why and she responded saying it was unfunny. I was surprised as it was in a book. I looked up jokes on google and tried them but no use unfortunately. Maybe just having a bad day might try again tomorrow.
