Npc isn’t a meme. Some people don’t have an internal monologue/consciousness/soul.
They’re constructs of the matrix. Kinda like how dream characters aren’t real most of the time and they are scripted or part of your subconscious

No, dream example wasn't worded properly. Not every dream character is fake. Sometimes you encounter entities in them. Try to get lucid in a dream and interact with a dream charactr and tell them they're not real and you will see them shapeshift, usually turn into a demon/ugly being. Creepy
Irl the line between asleep/ignorant and npc is thin. So we can't pinpoint what person is a souled human/human with consciousness/player
