something to do with malnutrition and shitty prenatal hormone levels that don't allow your mandible to erupt forwards, I have an overbite, and guess what, growing up I was an extremely malnourished and skinny kid and my mom didn't have the greatest diet while carrying me, my maxilla grew pretty far forwards, but my mandible was just never able to catch up
