Why do I look so much shorter in a mirror?

Am around 6'0-6'1 when I measure myself but when I look at a reflection when am walking in my hs I look like am around 5'8, like if I see a guy who looks like an inch taller than me in front of me I don't look an inch shorter but like 5 inches shorter. Has anyone else had this happen? Is the reflection telling reality?
