Why do I talk about weather to strangers?

Irl when I encounter a stranger and I’m stuck in their presence, I just go start to talk about the weather. If it is raining, I say “wow, pretty heavy rainfall innit, I wonder how long it’s gonna keep up like this” or if it’s hot I say “pretty hot outside huh”
