Why do Indian families do this?

Since my childhood every religious Indian (Hindus)parents tell their kids to not eat non veg on this day,that day and blah blah.
So many kids were restricted to consume non veg and just imagine how their potential was wasted
What's wrong with consuming chicken/meat everyday?You should be happy that your child takes it but instead they'll feed you vegetables here and make you friends with cows,jfl
