Why do Indians have brown gums but black peoples gums are still pink?

It's just a thing I've noticed about Indians, even ones that are fairly light skinned still have these weird brown gums yet even the blackest people I've seen still have bright pink gums and shit, what's going on with that? Like what's specifically going on with their genetics that makes melanin cover more areas
