Why do Indians only wear flip flops/slides?

For background I live in Melbourne Australia which has HEAPS of immigrants, similar to Canada and England. I’ve noticed this recently that everytime I see an Indian they are almost always wearing flip flops or thongs.

Whether it be in a supermarket or waiting to pick up the uber eats order. If they can afford a car for their uber job surely they can afford shoes? I’m sick of seeing their hairy and smelly feet. Is this some sort of cultural thing because it pisses me off. I even old my mum a few weeks ago and she said that she’s started noticing it.
