Developmental genetics. Proper developed jaw correlates to better breathing for instance. Good looks are typically a sign of "healthy" genetics. When you look at someone who has a trucel lower third, you instinctively know they have problems breathing all the time. Healthy indicators of attraction (like the jaw) signify better chances of it passing it on to future offspring which means they will likely be healthier and potentially good looking or decently looking enough to further procreate and further the bloodline of the chosen family.

We could say that blue eyes and white skin and good collagen are all meaningless, while things like intelligence or good work ethic are useful, but really they are all the same in one way, they all help to pass on genes and so thats why we like them

Good looks generally indicate good health, function, virility, you get it. We often didn't have the time to acclimate ourselves with someone's "hard working personality" or whatever. If you were tall, strong, and had robust masculine bones, you probably won most fights, and commanded a successful tribe. Could be elucidated further but the point is clear.

Because in the end all that matters is passing on your genes aka reproduction. Being attractive draws people towards you. Having attractive traits makes it more likely for your kids to have those traits.

Everything else like society, morals, science, etc is simple extra. They are not needed to fulfill mankind's true desire which is to eat, sleep, and reproduce.

Thats true for some traits, but for some traits the sole reason they are attractive is just because they are eye catching and attractive, not because they signal good health, strength, good fighting ability or anything like that.

The man who can lead a tribe and operate well through social means is likely not the tallest, or strongest, or biggest, he just understands things the best and can manipulate people the best. Even the man who is sexually attractive, though the might have big muscles, or he might be tall, is still not the fastest or strongest or best for for the environment he is in. The man who is tall, with blue eyes, good skin, chiseled jaw, etc. will always attract more women, and thats why he wins in passing on his genes, not because he is healthy or fit for that environment

theres not much evolutionary impact to looks, some aspects may be health indicators or high fighting success, which wouldve helped in primitive days but human society has evolved wayyy beyond that. even if that was the case, the biggest predictor of protection-ability is size, so height and frame robustness would mog facial attractiveness hard. you're also right, if the progress of humanity was the evolutionary force, things like iq/creativity/endurance/etc should be the primary things we have as "halos".

people just like looking at aesthetically pleasing things, we visit various landmarks just to take in beautiful views, so why wouldnt the same apply to people's faces? theres some obscure harmony of ppls faces that everyone just finds very attractive, similar to the way we enjoy listening to certain melodies or looking at certain plants, hence everyone wants to be around them to look at them more.

i guess looking at lima and chico's faces elicits a similar subconscious reaction as the sceneries for most ppl? why wouldnt u want to be around smth that invokes positive reactions in ur head?
