Why do Marching Bands still exist? And are they a uniquely USA phenomenon?

Marching Bands originated in the 1700s as a way to rally troops prior to battles. High Schools and Universities formed similar bands as a form of entertainment during sporting and other events. But the same function can now be achieved much easier and better by a loud speaker system. And who the fuck are these people that bother to purchase and learn to play something like Trombone?

it's not just about the sound, it's about visual, physical spectacle, a marching band is 100-300 people, a speaker can't do that
